Glandokort

Also indexed as "adrenal peptide bioregulator" and "Cytomax adrenal complex"

1 Identity

Biological extract of undefined composition supplied as a finished oral capsule. Not a chemical entity. and the article as sold declares "peptide complex A-17". Not synonyms, and this is the central point of the record: Cortagen, the synthetic adrenal-axis short peptide in the same program and reported in that literature as Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro, is a different article, and the phrase "a synthetic short-chain adrenal tissue peptide" that circulates against the Glandokort name is a description of Cortagen and not of this preparation.

Sequence
No defined sequence, and this record exists to say so precisely. Glandokort is a trade name for a finished oral capsule, not for a substance. In the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology program from which the name comes it is a "Cytomax"-class preparation: a low-molecular-weight peptide fraction extracted with dilute acetic acid from the adrenal glands of young cattle, blended with excipients and supplied as capsules. Retailer product data for the article as sold declare "peptide complex A-17" obtained from animal adrenal gland tissue at 20 mg per capsule, formulated with microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, calcium stearate and, in the 60-capsule presentation, carrageenan, potassium acetate and calcium salts of fatty acids. The manufacturer's own catalog describes complex A-17 as containing eight amino acids — glutamic acid, aspartic acid, alanine, leucine, valine, isoleucine, proline and serine. Eight declared amino acids is not a tetrapeptide and is not any single short peptide; it is a compositional description of a mixture, and it states constituents rather than order or stoichiometry. The A- prefix marks the manufacturer's tissue-extract (Cytomax) line; the AC- prefix marks the synthesized (Cytogen) line — a distinction that is load-bearing across this whole family and that is visible on the sellers' own product data.
Molecular formula
Not established. A mixture has no molecular formula, and none has been published for peptide complex A-17.
Average mass
Not established, and no number will be printed here. A mixture has no molecular weight. The only figure that could honestly occupy this line is a molecular-weight-distribution profile by SE-HPLC with a defined acceptance window, obtained from a supplier dossier and confirmed against a retained reference lot. None exists.
Monoisotopic mass
Not established, for the same reason. No monoisotopic mass can be assigned to a preparation whose composition is declared as a set of eight amino acids with no sequence, no stoichiometry and no fraction cut.
Salt / variant note
No variant of Glandokort itself can be enumerated, because the name does not denote a molecule. What can be enumerated is the set of defined molecules a supplier would plausibly ship against a Glandokort purchase order, every one of which is detectable by arithmetic the moment a mass appears on a certificate. Cortagen, the article the phrase "a synthetic short-chain adrenal peptide" is usually attached to, is itself a two-sequences-one-name case: one live listing publishes it as Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro, C17H26N4O9, 430.41 average / 430.1700 monoisotopic, while another publishes it as the AEDG complex, C14H22N4O9, 390.35 / 390.1387 — a 40 Da difference between two live listings under one name, and Cortagen is in any case cataloged in the market as a cortex rather than an adrenal article. Epitalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly), C14H22N4O9, 390.35 / 390.1387, is the cheapest and most widely stocked molecule in this family and the default filler across the category. Vesugen (Lys-Glu-Asp), C15H26N4O8, 390.39 / 390.1751, sits 0.04 Da from Epitalon at average mass and 0.0364 Da — about 93 ppm at m/z 390 — at monoisotopic mass, so a certificate reading "MW 390.4" has not distinguished them and no nominal-mass instrument ever will. Pinealon (Glu-Asp-Arg) C15H26N6O8 418.41 / 418.1812; Vilon (Lys-Glu) C11H21N3O5 275.31 / 275.1481; Thymogen (Glu-Trp) C16H19N3O5 333.34 / 333.1325 complete the set that circulates under one another's names. And the article as it actually exists in commerce — a capsule containing microcrystalline cellulose and 20 mg of a tissue-derived complex — is not a bulk substance at all, so none of the above is what a buyer would receive.

2 Class & testing panel

Form
Single article
Testing panel
P7panel definitionA synthetic-peptide panel is never substituted for it, and the reason is not a drafting nicety: applied to a tissue extract of undeclared composition, an identity test has no reference standard, a purity figure has no meaning and a net-peptide-content result is uninterpretable, and every certificate published in this catalog is real

3 Primary sources & evidence

The index reports the design and provenance of the literature, not a conclusion about effect.

No PubMed-indexed primary literature identifies a compound named Glandokort; searching the name returns vendor and distributor material only. The surrounding program literature is largely Russian-language, concentrated in a small number of journals with substantial author overlap, and consists mainly of in-vitro and rodent work together with open-label clinical series; independent replication outside that group is scarce. Because no composition is defined for this preparation, none of that literature can be tied to a specific article in any event — which is the decisive point and not a rhetorical one: a citation attaches to a molecule, and there is no molecule here to attach it to. No controlled human trial of this preparation was identified, and no registered trial was found. The citation index page for this record states that the evidence base is empty and explains why, rather than borrowing citations from adjacent molecules, borrowing being the single commonest failure in this product category.

4 Storage & specification

Storage
No commercial article is accepted into inventory, so no storage condition is labeled and none is published. Any sample obtained solely for the identity investigation is held at -20 degrees C plus or minus 5 degrees C, desiccated, in its original sealed container, quarantined, physically segregated from sellable stock, and flagged in the inventory system as non-fillable. It is not counted as inventory and carries no value on the balance sheet. Because the material is bovine-tissue-derived, any such sample is additionally handled under the site's animal-tissue segregation rule and is not stored in the same cabinet as synthetic articles.
Shelf life
No retest interval is assigned, because no article is stocked and none will be. Retained identity-investigation samples are held indefinitely at -20 degrees C and are re-examined only if a supplier supplies a written composition and the record is formally reopened by QA. Reopening is a documented decision with a named owner, not a silent change.

This record reports identity, specification and study design. It does not state what the article does in a human body. Supplied under the caution: “CAUTION: Contains a new drug for investigational use only in laboratory research animals or for tests in vitro. Not for use in humans.
