Synthetic adamantane-conjugated heptapeptide (covalent small-molecule/peptide conjugate). sold by mass as 'Adamax 1032'.

- Adamantane-1-carbonyl-Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro-Gly-NH2 - the Semax heptapeptide MEHFPGP carrying an adamantane-1-carbonyl group on the N-terminal alpha-amine, extended by one glycine, terminating in a C-terminal primary amide. This is the only arrangement that satisfies the laboratory-declared formula C50H69N11O11S, and it was reached by arithmetic rather than by assumption: subtracting the adamantane-1-carbonyl monoconjugate of free-acid Semax (C48H65N9O11S) from the declared formula leaves exactly C2H4N2, which is one glycine residue plus the acid-to-amide conversion. All seven parent residues are L-proteinogenic; no D-residue, no non-proteinogenic residue, no chiral method required. The attachment site is not settled in any public monograph - the manufacturer declares it in writing and the company confirms it by proton and carbon-13 NMR before a specification is issued. Supplied as the acetate or trifluoroacetate salt, counterion identified and quantified rather than assumed.

- This is the catalog'S worked example - at least four chemically distinct molecules and one refusal-to-state are sold under this one name. (1) The adamantane-modified article, Ada-CO-MEHFPGP-Gly-NH2, C50H69N11O11S, 1032.23 average / 1031.4899 monoisotopic. Three sellers list it, one shipping 10 mg and another 13 mg. (2) the non-adamantyl article with no cage in it at all: Ac-Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro-Ala-Gly-OH, C44H61N11O13S, 984.10 average / 983.4171 monoisotopic. This is what one seller ships under the name Adamax and what a second manufacturer produces under the name Adamax - and that seller's own product text calls it an analogue of Semax with an adamantane portion while publishing a formula containing no adamantane. Two independent manufacturers, the same non-adamantyl molecule, the same name, 48.13 Da lighter than the real article. (3) A C-terminal-adamantyl claim with no number behind it: one seller lists 'Adamax' as Ac-Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro-Ad-NH2 and states the molecular weight as approximately 1100-1300 g/mol depending on adamantyl configuration. A 200 Da stated range is not a specification and cannot be reconciled with either molecule above. Another catalog carries 'Ac-Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro-Adamantane' with no formula and no mass. (4) the two substitutions the contract laboratory actually observed in incoming samples: Semax itself, the unconjugated starting material, C37H51N9O10S, 813.93 / 813.3480 - 218.30 Da below the real article; and N-acetyl Semax amidate, C39H54N10O10S, 854.98 / 854.3745, CAS 2920938-90-3 - 177.25 Da below. Both are cheaper, both are freely available, both were arriving labeled Adamax. (5) Parent-family arithmetic: Semax amide C37H52N10O9S 812.94 / 812.3639; N-acetyl Semax free acid C39H53N9O11S 855.97 / 855.3585, one dalton from the amidate and routinely confused with it; des-adamantyl of the real article, H-MEHFPGP-Gly-NH2, C39H55N11O10S 870.00 / 869.3854, the direct process residue if the conjugation step fails; and the plain monoconjugate Ada-CO-MEHFPGP-OH, C48H65N9O11S 976.16 / 975.4524, which is 56.07 Da light. (6) Degradation and over-reaction space of the real article: methionine sulfoxide C50H69N11O12S 1048.23 / 1047.4848, plus 16.00; the bis-adamantoyl over-conjugate C61H83N11O12S 1194.46 / 1193.5943, plus 162.23; and the free-acid form Ada-CO-MEHFPGP-Gly-OH, C50H68N10O12S 1033.21 / 1032.4739, exactly 0.98 Da heavier and inside any tolerance stated in whole daltons.

3 Primary sources & evidence
No PubMed-indexed study was identified under this trade name - no synthesis paper, no independent physicochemical characterization, no animal study and no controlled human trial. The parent heptapeptide Semax has a substantial, largely Russian-language rodent and in-vitro literature and a Russian regulatory approval; neither transfers to a covalently modified analogue, and the citation index page carries that literature explicitly labeled as parent-compound literature with the structural difference stated at the top.

- Lyophilized solid in a Type I amber glass vial with a nitrogen-flushed headspace, elastomeric stopper and aluminum crimp seal. Labeled: store at -20 degrees C plus or minus 5 degrees C, protect from light and moisture, equilibrate the sealed vial to room temperature before opening to prevent condensation onto the cake. The nitrogen flush is a specification and not a preference - methionine at position 1 of the parent sequence is oxidation-labile. Ships ambient with a labeled cumulative excursion allowance of 120 hours at or below 30 degrees C recorded on the shipping record; gel packs at 2-8 degrees C where transit exceeds that; a single-use temperature logger travels in every export carton.
